Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (15)

You know I have a sort of aversion to the term ‘vintage’, but this RETRO real wedding channels vintage to perfection. It’s fun, sweet and unconventional. Ladies and gents, I give you Martin and Nina, beautifully photographed by Britta Schunck Fotografie.

Breaking traditions and her conviction that she would never get married, Nina proposed to her dream prince (her words, not mine!) herself. They both agreed on having a big wedding party, with all their good friends and family, but they quickly realised that the whole white wedding, with chair covers, set meal etc. was out of the question. So they set out to find the perfect outdoor venue, Café del Sol and decided that their wedding would be all about having a fun. “Our guests were meant to experience an unforgettable day, enjoy themselves and dance as if there were no tomorrow” says Nina. And have fun they did, judging by these photos.

Nina and Martin are both fans of the 70s, so they decided to make the 70s the theme for their wedding and style it with lots of DIY touches accordingly. They started collecting old vases and empty bottles and decorated them with ribbons, roses and lace, and made marmalade jars with brightly coloured tags. Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (9) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (7)

As Martin is a graphic designer, he came up with this fun retro inspired look and feel for their stationery, including an invitation suite, menus, a table plan and thank you notes.

To keep the guests entertained, they also set up a fun Polaroid photo booth against an original retro backdrop and provided their guests with props and accessories to play with.   Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (4) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (3) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (2) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (1) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (6) Real Wedding Nina and Martin Britta Schunck Fotografie, (19)

As a thank you idea and to get their guests to mingle and have fun, they gave each one of them a badge with an inscription describing them, a vintage style portrait, an aspirin for a the expected headache (er… judging by the bottles of whine, I guess their guests must have been very grateful for the aspirin the day after) and a packet of tissues of the tears of joy.

And this is how Nina concludes her feedback: “I think our wedding was a real success!” – totally agree!

I love this couple’s style! The thank you bag with personalised badges, aspirin and tissues is such a clever idea, and a great way to get guests to mingle and have a some sort of conversation starter!

Congratulations Nina and Martin on your wedding and thank you Britta for sharing it with us!

x Betta
