This journey into the world of wedding blogging has been bringing me closer to some amazing suppliers, individuals with incredible creativity and style, visionaries who constantly find a way to bring fresh designs and trends to the wedding world. It’s inspiring and exciting to meet (albeit virtually) and feature them on Linen & Silk Weddings blog.
This last year has been all about vintage weddings, and while I do like the trend, I’m all for bringing retro up to date and making it contemporary. Octavia Plum wedding stationery does just that. It’s on trend, vintage-inspired, but modern at the same time. And just for Linen & Silk readers, Octavia Plum have agreed to exclusively share some of the pictures of their recent bespoke designs taken by Ben Thompson.
So it’s with pleasure that I’d like to introduce you to Victoria herself who has kindly shared with us how her business started and what inspires her designs.
Who is Octavia Plum
“In 2001 I received a BA Hons in graphic design with a major in print-making, and I spent the next 11 years working as a professional illustrator and designer. However, my own wedding to Paul in 2008 was when my wedding stationery business started. I had trawled the internet for hours and was disappointed by what I’d found. Most designs were very classic – plain, ribbons and ‘church doors’. I’m all for championing simple design, but I’m just not a classic kind of girl. They didn’t represent the kind of wedding we were planning, which was sophisticated, yet fun and relaxed. So I designed my own stationery and then ended up doing it for friends and family, and the business just grew from there.

I love being creative, it’s what drives me.
With Octavia Plum, I wanted to offer high quality designs for brides who didn’t necessarily have the time or the inclination to go down the bespoke route, yet allow the client to customise as much as possible.

Every bride wants something different and I can honestly say I’ve never produced 2 designs the same. But in the new year I will also be concentrating more on offering a bespoke service for couples who want a one-off design that reflects them as a couple. Im very excited about this new venture.

Working for various high profile London publishers and I’ve also sold gift card designs to the likes of John Lewis. I am fortunate to have had my work featured in various wedding publications including You&Your Wedding, Wedding Magazine and BBC Homes & Antiques.
As inspiration, I like to collect vintage postcards and wallpapers from vintage fairs and car boot sales. I love the romance of the by-gone era and the beautiful tactile quality of the illustrations and prints and I try and include this in my designs.”
