SOPHIA + MATT

When your heart calls for the exotic, for a faraway destination and a celebration of your love surrounded by the sound of the sea, the desert and just six of your closest friends, you follow the calling… This is exactly what Matt & Sophia did when they decided to get married in Egypt. They got in touch with us a few months before their trip to Sharm el Sheikh and asked us to bring to life their dream wedding: a beach elopement that brings together Sophia’s dream for an impossibly romantic day with middle-eastern, arabesque-inspired accents. This Sharm el Sheikh wedding was one of our favourites to plan and style, in a destination that is very close to our heart.

We selected the Sultan Gardens Resort, a 5 star beach resort in Sharks’ Bay – the perfect backdrop for a beach ceremony directly on the sand, with the waves crushing just meters away, thanks to its beautiful long shore and a stunning lawn overlooking the sea and Tiran Island. With the help of an international team of wedding suppliers we were able to bring Matt & Sophia’s elopement vision to life. Wedding stationery designer Eagle Eyed Bride customised their Love & Lace collection to Sophia’s chosen wedding colours – coral and white. Gilded Linens provided a stunning champagne-gold sequins table linen to add that glitzy feel to their candle lit table; while Debonair completed the look with their champagne chair ruffles. Matt & Sophia’s wedding table was then embellished with local Egyptian lanterns and vases that we sourced out at a local market.

For their ceremony the couple decided to opt for a romantic wooden structure and draping fabric, decorated with garlands and paper pompoms of various size, all sourced out in England and assembled by us on site. This was the most logical solution for a beach wedding in a hot country like Egypt. With 43C decorating the altar with flowers would have proven to be a costly mistake. Our couple opted for a symbolic sand ceremony on the beach – a symbol of their union, witnessed by their closest, in a breathtaking destination. After cocktails on the beach and some portraits with wedding photographer Nora Photography, Matt, Sophia and their four guests enjoyed a traditional Egyptian wedding meal under the stars and sound of the waves.
