Happy Wednesday gorgeous brides! Today’s mood board is one that makes me happy, like REALLY happy. A couple of weeks ago I received an email from one of Linen and Silk Weddings readers who asked for some help with her wedding theme. This beautiful bride has her wedding dress (a beautiful icy white, lace number) and her venue (elegant, yet not pretentious) sorted; however, she is at that stage where she needs some help with colours and style. I’m so glad she got in touch with me to help her put together a style and colour mood board.
Icy white (or silver) is an extremely versatile colour to work with. It’s elegant and lends itself to multiple colour combinations. One of my favourites and most elegant is silver + deep blue (I’m not going to say ‘navy’ because I feel that you can actually play with various shades of blue as long as they’re ‘deep’) and blush (pink, coral or peach).
If what you have in mind is a dreamy summer wedding, this colour combo is just perfect. Not many flowers have blue naturally in them, but as it happens, anemones do! Match them to a blush version of the same flower and you’ll have the perfect combination.
Use blue in your table decor. If you just want subtle accents, use blue napkins matched to a silver / grey table cloth. Based on the description of her wedding, I would also suggest to my lovely bride to keep it elegant by alternating silver and crystal vases for the larger flower arrangements to smaller blue vases for smaller one.
With a beautiful vintage inspired lace dress (the one above is a stunning Ellis Bridal number from their recent collection), I would SO wear a pair of classic sapphire and diamond earrings to really tie in your theme in the most elegant way. Have your groom and groomsmen wear dark blue suits and bring in the blush with their accessories (ties / buttonhole flowers etc.). With your bridesmaids, however, invert the colour order: a blush coral or soft pink dress with dark blue accessories – bouquet, jewellery, shoes…
This is a colour combination that is elegant, and, done the right way, is fun, fresh and summery too!
