Ah Lombardy… my first home… Land of industry, design and minimalism, but also, land of beautiful mansions, hidden gems in the countryside, perfect for fairy tale destination weddings… This region has so much to offer to brides and grooms looking for a special destination for their wedding day. From beautiful cities (think Verona, Bergamo and even Milan) to lakes (you can’t go wrong with Lake Como), mountains to countryside, city-chic to rustic and medieval, Lombardy is one versatile region, giving you ample venue choice and the opportunity to experience what we consider being authentic Italian elegance – something people in this region are well-known for.
Today’s real wedding on Linen and Silk is beautifully captured by Gianluca Adovasio, wedding photographers based in Italy with vast experience with both local and destination weddings.
The wedding of Michela and Trevor took place in the beautiful Castello di Marne, a castle built before the year 1000 and with an incredible history throughout the medieval age up until the 19th century, when it was finally turned into a countryside home.
I’m in love with the juxtaposition of this ancient manor with more clean and contemporary touches like paper lanterns – not something I would immediately think of doing, but that works so well.
These beautiful paper lanterns were created by Rosalba of Fiori, who decorated the venue by scattering them around the garden and into the hall, where the ceremony took place.
Michela’s dress gives me serious wedding dress envy 🙂 In its elegance and simplicity it’s absolute perfection. I love it when a bride is completely in tune with her wedding day and chooses a dress that is right, not just for the occasion, but for the location and style of wedding too.
