Oh hi. Question for you: Marsala is the Pantone colour of the year. How do you like that? When I first saw the news online I thought I read it wrong. I mean, seriously? From radiant orchid (admittedly not my first colour choice, but certainly super bright and vibrant), to Marsala?! But then I read this:
“While PANTONE 18-3224 Radiant Orchid, the captivating 2014 color of the year, encouraged creativity and innovation, Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness. This hearty, yet stylish tone is universally appealing and translates easily to fashion, beauty, industrial design, home furnishings and interiors.” (Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, AdWeek)I’m actually starting to like the sound of this… However how do you define ‘Marsala’ as a colour? I mean, it isn’t red, but it isn’t brown either. I guess it’s a mix between the two. Make sure you don’t call it maroon either! Trust me, searching “maroon wedding” on Pinterest will come up with results that will make you gag!
So, okay then, let’s pretend ‘Marsala’ is not actually as bad as it looks… Pinterest, show me what you’ve got!Yes, yes, yes! I can 100% live with these. Timeless, warm… I would even dear saying it’s a colour that suits everyone, no?
What if I give it a little shine? Well, with a slight bit of imagination, you could say that ‘Marsala’ is an earthy, non-shiny version of copper, and you know what? I absolutely love copper!
Marsala is already starting to grow on me… 😉
So, what are your thoughts on ‘Marsala’? Yay or nay?
